The Complementary Healing Association, (C.H.A). is a UK National Charity.
The Charity (which now incorporates the Aromatherapy Health and Beauty Association, the European Reiki Federation and the Complementary Therapy Association) was founded by it's President JoAnn Bailey in 1965 with the intention of bringing all Complementary Therapies under one umbrella.
In the Government response to the House of Lords Select committee on Science and Technology’s report on Complementary and Alternative Medicine 2001, it was recommended by the Government that Complementary Therapies organisations should develop Voluntary systems of Self-Regulation and should consequently agree a set of standards to regulate each profession.
The C.H.A. have done this. As a Regulator, Accreditation, Verification and Standards Setting Body The C.H.A. have a responsibility for Maintaining Standards and Improving Confidence. We work with other Organisations such as the British Alliance of Healing Associations on the setting of the Healing National Occupational Standards. See Core Curriculum page.
The C.H.A. Endeavours to ensure that it operates a Responsible Complementary Therapies web site ‘Link’ Policy to ensure that the content is suitable for All Members of the Public.
The Complementary Healing Association is registered with the UK Register of Learning Providers: UK Provider Reference Number is 10020425 The C.H.A. are Founder Members of UK Healers, Members of the Complementary Therapy Association and Members of The British Alliance of Healing Associations.
The C.H.A. encompasses Complementary Therapies and Training to provide Complementary Care to all those in need, regardless of race, colour, creed or status.
The C.H.A. is an Entirely Voluntary organisation committed to helping to aid "the relief of sickness, suffering and stress of persons, to those in need, by the provision of Complementary and Natural Health Care." The C.H.A. relies solely on donations for all its funding and, as such, all donations will be used solely for the benefit of the charity.
The C.H.A. endeavours to work closely with, and not instead of, Mainstream Medicine. By doing so we also hope to help towards easing the already overstretched Medical Profession and the monetary burden on the Health Service.
The C.H.A. believes that Holistic Therapies should be freely available to all, irrespective of their ability to pay. However, as there are ancillary running costs involved in running a centre, a donation towards these costs would be appreciated.
The C.H.A. welcomes Qualified Healers from other bona fides organisations who wish to be considered for Transfer of Membership to the C.H.A.
The C.H.A. welcomes Healing Centres and Groups who wish to join the C.H.A in their work.
The C.H.A. will also maintain the European Union Register for Complementary Practitioners. www.eurcp.com
National Standards of Competence have been created and a Common Policy for Requirements should be followed by all Healing Associations.
Like All Professionals, our members are covered by insurance for Professional Indemnity and for Public Liability.
The C.H.A. will Terminate Affiliation and Accreditation of organisations if it considers that their Standards have fallen below what are required of a Professional Organisation.
